Welcome to Firwood Cottage

Firwood Cottage is a delightful, self-catering pine chalet on the edge of the village of Nethybridge, adjoining the RSPB Abernethy Forest Nature Reserve.

Just a short walk from the village, local shops and hotels, the chalet sleeps up to 4 people, is ecologically built from local Caledonian Pine, and is warm, comfortable and attractively furnished.

The chalet is insulated and furnished to a very high standard, making it warm and comfortable. There are two bedrooms – one double and one bunkroom. All bedding and towels are provided. There is a shower room with shower, W.C and washbasin, a kitchen/dining room and lounge area with fully equipped kitchen area, cooker, fridge, microwave, etc. TV, radio and a small library of books and maps of the surrounding area are also provided. We also provide use of a washing machine, drying room and deep freezer. Very effective electric heaters heat the chalet and there is instant hot water.

Outside there is a peaceful patio area and gardens adjoining the forest nature reserve, which is a magnet for wildlife – see list.

Off-road parking is provided and there is a secure store for bicycles, skis, etc.

Janet and Stewart Taylor have lived in Nethybridge for over 30 years. For over 25 years, Stewart was the manager of the RSPB Abernethy Reserve. He is now semi-retired and continues to work for the RSPB on a part-time basis. He will be happy to advise on suitable areas for wildlife and birdwatching. Apart from birds, he has a good local knowledge of flowering plants, butterflies, dragonflies, mammals, etc.
